General Meeting Minutes

Submitted by Patti Tanner

We had a very quiet meeting, as three schools has events going on the same time as our REACH meeting.  We are fairly sure the Instructional Services position will not be cut for the next school year and are also fairly certain that Barb Cey will be the one to fill that position. The dates and times will likely stay the same for next year: many days early in the school year when problems are likely to arise with new students and student placements and a lot of time near;the end of the school year for the following year's school placement and clustering.

One important matter that came up is that Barb simply does not have the time to meet with the parents of 300 children on her current schedule. DEP meetings will be cut back significantly; if your child is established in their DEP and no changes are necessary, you probably won't have an individual meeting that includes Barb. This year she experimented with group (cluster) meetings and they were successful. You can still request an individual meeting if your child's situation changes, but hopefully most issues can be resolved with the building administrator and teacher.

Barb will be back in the district from April 18 – May 26 to catch up on DEP meetings, assess new students and work with administrators on clustering for the next year. I am working on getting a few people together to go to the April 12 School Board meeting to remind them of everything Barb has done for our children and urge them to keep her on for next year.

Our next REACH meeting is Thursday, April 28, at 7 pm in the Heritage Media Center.
